Therefore, the uplink from the aggregation switch to the core switch should be a gigabit port to ensure smooth data transmission . For larger deployments, Layer 3 managed switches with VLAN support are recommended to provide network isolation and segmentation .
Integration with Monitoring Tools
In advanced monitoring setups, aggregation switches can also function as TAP aggregation switches, linking multiple test access points (TAPs) to monitoring systems such as RMON probes, IPS devices, or packet sniffers.
