The Asia-Africa-Europe 1 (AAE-1) cable is a major submarine communications system that links Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Yemen, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Greece, Italy, and France . Launched for commercial service in June 2017, it was one of the longest submarine cables in the world at the time . The cable is designed to support the growing broadband and data traffic between Asia, Africa, and Europe.
